Why we call:
Phonathon’s purpose is to increase annual giving participation among alumni, parents, and friends of the University while establishing maintaining their connection to the school. Our callers, Student Development Officers (SDOs), are a key element to the Annual Campaign's overall success. Our callers are committed to helping maintain and improve the Gardner-Webb experience for students of today and tomorrow. SDOs value the quality education they receive at Gardner-Webb, and they realize the life-long advantages that it provides. For this reason, our student development officers are not only calling alumni, parents and friends to ask for support, but to thank them and to inform them of the great things happening at Gardner-Webb.
When we call:
The phonathon program runs from September through April, Sunday (afternoon) through Thursday (weekday evenings).

Why work for us?
The Annual Giving Student Call Center is looking for enthusiastic, friendly and motivated students to help Gardner-Webb grow. Work in a fun and energized environment that includes music and games - and get paid for it! In addition, this job is a great resume builder (our callers have been offered jobs from the very people they call). Hourly rates start at $8.00, and employees have the chance to win prizes each night.
What we do:
Student Development Officers (SDOs) are responsible for communicating the Annual Campaign’s case for support to alumni, parents and friends of the University while asking these individuals to support the school through a gift. SDOs should exhibit leadership, professionalism, initiative and a positive attitude when performing all duties. Additionally, qualified employees have the opportunity to move into managerial positions.
Requirements:
We are looking for students who:
- Have experience dealing with the public.
- Can speak English clearly.
- Positive, enthusiastic and articulate.
- Can record data accurately.
- Enjoy speaking on the phone to many different people.
