Government Funding Policy

Gardner-Webb University does not accept federal funding, state administered federal funding, or state funding. This prohibition precludes University faculty and staff from seeking or accepting federal or state grants.
As the sole exception, Gardner-Webb University does allow students to seek and accept federal funding, state administered federal funding, or state funding that is directed towards a student as an individual. Pell Grants, for example, fall under this exception.

This policy does not reflect any belief or opinion of Gardner-Webb University and should not be construed as such. It also does not exempt Gardner-Webb University staff, faculty, or students from obeying both federal and state laws. Moreover, because Gardner-Webb University students are not prohibited from receiving federal funding, state administered federal funding, or state funding, many federal and state regulations—such as the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)—do apply.

For further information on the permutations of this policy, please contact a University official. If you encounter a situation you believe may either be in conflict with Gardner-Webb University policy or may conflict with federal or state laws, please immediately notify the appropriate University official.
