Donna Harvey Turner 1982 B.S.

Donna Harvey Turner recently wrote her first book called No Soccer Today for Rinnie Ray. She is married to David M. Turner, a 1982 alumnus of Gardner-Webb and they have two children, Dean Jacob and Dana Christine Turner.

Richard Lee Wood 2000 B.A.

Richard Lee Wood was recently called as Associate Pastor of Family Ministry at Jonesboro Heights Baptist Church in Sanford, N.C. Email Richard at richard@richardlwood.org.

Amber York Pinney 2004 B.S.

Amber York Pinney and Daniel Pinney are pleased to announce the birth of their second child, Elijah Jonathan Pinney, on August 11, 2010. He joins big sister, Natalie Kate Pinney, who is 2 years old. Amber works as a Receptionist at Rhythm Academy and Daniel is employed in sales and delivery at Smith's Furniture. Amber and Daniel reside in Toccoa, GA.

Jonathan “Cory” Tucker 2009 M.B.A.

Cory Tucker has joined the staff of Surrey Bank & Trust as Vice President and Commercial Loan Officer. He is involved in community activities, including working on the United Fund campaigns and serving on the Children's Center Board of Directors, where he was board president from 2008 to 2010. Cory and his wife, Jill, are the parents of four-month-old twins, Jack and Charlotte.

Deanna Wise 1995 B.S.

Deanna Wise and Ricky Allen Pope were married on December 31, 2010 at Mt. Vernon Baptist Fellowship Hall in Vale, N.C. Deanna was also recently named an AR Technician at Catawba Valley Community College.

Adrienne Yvonne Smith 2009 B.S.

Adrienne Yvonne Smith was recently appointed fourth-grade teacher with Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy in Mooresboro, N.C.

Ginger Lee (Jones) Fern 2002 B.S.

Ginger Lee (Jones) Fern has passed all four sections of the Uniform Certified Public Accountant Examination and is now a licensed CPA in the state of North Carolina.  She is employed as the Enterprise Accounting Manager at Cleveland Regional Medical Center in Shelby, N.C.  Email Ginger at gingerlee0612@hotmail.com.

Ron Rash 1976 B.A.

Ron Rash was awarded the Frank O’Connor Award, the richest prize for the short-story form (an award totaling over $47,000), which he won over five other authors. Rash won for “Burning Bright” which is a collection of short stories set in Appalachia from the civil war until the present day. Rash went to Ireland to accept the award.

Cindy Jackson Kelly 1985

Cindy Jackson Kelly is a Vice President & Trust Officer at Arthur State Bank in Spartanburg, South Carolina and is the current Board Chair of the Children Shelter of Upstate in Spartanburg.  Cindy and her husband, Keith, have three daughters and a son-in-law.

Summer Crisp Self 2003 B.A.

Summer Crisp Self was named Teacher of the Year at John Chavis Middle School in Cherryville, North Carolina for 2010-2011 and will be competing for the Gaston County Schools Teacher of the Year.
